Paver Calculator
Pavers, base gravel and bedding sand for a patio or walkway.
How it's calculated
Pavers = area ÷ (paver length × width ÷ 144), plus the cut allowance, rounded up. Base gravel = area × base depth ÷ 12 ÷ 27. Bedding sand assumes the usual 1-inch layer.
Example
200 sq ft of 4 × 8 inch pavers with 10% extra: 200 ÷ 0.222 × 1.1 = 990 pavers, 2.47 yd³ of base and 0.62 yd³ of sand.
Base depth by use
| Use | Compacted base |
|---|---|
| Walkways and patios | 4" |
| Patios on clay soil | 6" |
| Driveways | 8–12" |
