Sod Calculator
Rolls or pallets of sod for a lawn area, with an allowance for cutting around edges.
How it's calculated
Square feet to order = area × (1 + extra %). Rolls = that ÷ roll size, rounded up. A standard roll is 2 × 5 ft (10 sq ft); pallets are usually 400–500 sq ft, so check your farm's pallet size.
Example
1,000 sq ft with 5% extra: 1,050 sq ft, or 105 rolls — about 2.3 pallets of 450 sq ft.
Common sod sizes
| Format | Size | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Standard roll | 2 × 5 ft | 10 sq ft |
| Small slab | 16 × 24 in | 2.67 sq ft |
| Big roll | 2.5 × 40 ft | 100 sq ft |
